Event Details

Slow Food RVa & St Stephen's Episcopal Church are proud to host a day-long webcast/viewing party of TEDxManhattan "Changing the Way We Eat", which is open to the entire Richmond community of people interested joining the conversation about sustainably produced food.

In the TED spirit of ideas worth spreading and 'riveting talks by remarkable people', TEDxManhattan 'Changing the Way We Eat' will highlight the work being done to shift our food system from industrially-based agriculture to one in which healthy, nutritious food is accessible to all.  Viewing parties will be held in dozens of venues across the country as a means to expand coverage of this important national conversation to regional audiences and to foster locally-focused discussions.

National leaders in the sustainable food movement will be speaking throughout the day, including Laurie David, co-producer of An Inconvenient Truth, Slow Food USA President Josh Viertel, Dr. Tenley Albright, Director of MIT Collaborative Initiatives, Lucas Knowles, Coordinator of USDA's Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food program, Ken Cook, President and Co-Founder, the Environmental Working Group, Curt Ellis, co-creator of the Peabody award-winning film King Corn, and more.
